Juan Pablo Usuga Cadavid wins the Young Researcher Award at CIGI QUALITA 2019!

Our colleague and PhD Student Juan Pablo Usuga Cadavid receives the Young Researcher Award for his paper “Machine learning in production planning and control”

The Young Researcher Award “Laurent Villeneuve” aims to reward excellence in scientific work done by masters and PhD students. The competition was held in Montreal, Canada, during the international conference CIGI QUALITA 2019 which focuses on industrial engineering, quality, reliability and sustainability in the digital era.

Our colleague and first-year PhD student Juan Pablo Usuga Cadavid, participated in the competition with his research article: “Machine learning in production planning and control: the state of the art” (Original title: “L’Apprentissage Automatique dans la planification et le contrôle de la production: un état de l’art”) and was awarded the first place.

In his paper, Juan Pablo presents the state-of-the-art of coupling between Machine Learning with Production Planning and Control. It aims to explore and implement Machine Learning use cases into iFAKT’s Predictve ERP software - a solution to optimize operations management in companies.
Juan Pablo’s research paper and thesis are supervised by Samir Lamouri (full-time professor of Industrial Engineering at the engineering school Arts et Métiers ParisTech), Bernard Grabot, (full-time professor of Industrial Engineering at the engineering school Ecole Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Tarbes – INP in Tarbes) and Arnaud Fortin, Managing Director at iFAKT France SAS.

iFAKT puts great emphasis on promoting young talents and therefore is very proud of our colleagues’ success. We would like to thank Juan Pablo Usuga Cadavid for his great work, his effort, and commitment at iFAKT and congratulate him on his great success!
